On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of the Archives, the Chapter Archive of Mallorca has opened its doors to the public this past weekend, as it has been doing in previous editions.
This year, he has organized two guided visits to the MCA. The first visit, at 10:00 am, was carried out by ten students from the SOIB, from the Colegio de la Purísima, who study the Archives Module for the Certificate of Professionalism. The second visit, at 12:30 a.m., has been open to the general public, with the participation of eight people.
These two visits have begun in the Plaza de la Almoina, just before the Chapter Archive, in which Marina Marqués, an ACM technician, has explained the history and creation of the Archive, before moving on to the Consultation Room, where she has showed some of the documents most consulted by researchers and others noted for their historical value, such as the Llibre del Repartiment, the Llibre de la Cadena or the Consueta de Sagristia.
The other organized activity has been aimed at families with children between 5 and 10 years old. As has already been done on other occasions, the Education section of the Seu has participated with the ACM to prepare a family workshop. The theme of this year has been the stamps, as a validation system for documents. The children, accompanied by their relatives, have known various documents of the Archive that carry stamps, and they have been able to make their own. More than 40 people, including parents and children, have participated in this interesting activity.
In this way, the ACM team wanted to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the International Day of the Archives by bringing its documentary heritage closer to all Mallorcan people.
