La Seu celebrates the ordination of Baltasar Morell and Danilo Urzeda
Last Sunday, June 24, two young people, Danilo de Urzeda (1993, Brazil) and Baltasar Morell (1984, Palma), were ordained presbyters of the Mallorcan diocese in a solemn celebration at the Cathedral of Mallorca, accompanied by more than 1000 people , among relatives, friends and parishioners of the parishes in which they carry out their evangelizing task.
The ceremony was officiated by the Bishop of Mallorca, Msgr. Sebastià Taltavull, who during the homily exhorted the young people to stand out for the "simplicity of treatment, for the ability to welcome, for the availability at the time of serving, for the sensitivity towards the poorest, for the care of the sick, for the ease of making the Gospel accessible with simple words and facts that demonstrate it, for the attentive preaching of the Word and the life of the people, for the life of prayer and for the sign of being testimonies of a Church with a generous heart and open doors, where everyone can participate in some way in the ecclesial life ".
After the homily, the future presbyters approached and manifested their promise of celibacy before the bishop, followed by the manifestation of will over their willingness to live according to the proclaimed Gospel, to obedience and to the life of service and prayer. Another symbolic gesture took place in the ledanes, when the elect fell on the ground, a sign of service and dedication, while the saints of the Church were invoked.
The moment of ordination took place with the laying on of hands on the heads of the elect, kneeling before the bishop, and the liturgical vestments, the paten and the chalice followed, as well as being anointed in the hands of the bishop. After this anointing the bishop embraced the new ordained, who also shared with other priests and deacons as a sign of peace and communion with the Church.
