The bishop of Mallorca names two new canons

More than 500 people filled the Cathedral of Mallorca yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 3 July, to take part in the celebration of the installation of two new canons.

The Cathedral of Mallorca was filled with worshippers on Wednesday afternoon for the ceremony of the installation of two new canons to the Chapter: Fr. Mateu J. Tous Vanrell and Fr. Pere N. Oliver Vives, who are currently rector of the parish of San Jaime and diocesan delegate of Charitable and Social Pastoral Activities, and rector of the parish of San José Obrero and delegate of Liturgy and Lay Ministries respectively.

The Chapter and the congregation received the new candidates in a celebration presided over by the Bishop of Mallorca, Monsignor Sebastià Taltavull who, after the service, performed the installation ceremony. This special session consisted of the secretary Fr. Frances Ramis reading out the appointment and the profession of faith by the new canons, Fr. Mateu J. Tous and Fr. Pere N. Oliver, who then took the oath of office, swearing to honour the statutes and regulations of the Chapter and maintain the confidentiality of its decisions.
