The Cathedral of Mallorca will be closed to tourist visits on 15 February. This Tuesday, the Cathedral will host the funeral service of the auxiliary bishop of Barcelona, the Mallorcan Monsignor Antoni Vadell, who passed away on Saturday 12 February at the age of 49 after a long illness. Before the funeral, the body will lie in repose from 10:00 to 15:00.
Afterwards, at 17:00, the Bishop of Mallorca, Monsignor Sebastià Taltavull, will preside at the funeral, which will be concelebrated by the Archbishop of Barcelona, Cardinal Joan Josep Omella and the bishops Mgr Javier Vilanova and Mgr Sergi Godo. The funeral Mass will be streamed live on the webpages and social networks of the Cathedral and the Diocese of Mallorca. The coffin will then be taken to the sanctuary of Nostra Senyora de Gràcia, in Llucmajor where Antoni Vadell was born and where he will be laid to rest the following day in a family and private ceremony.
